Announcement | Steven Carmody

One Great George Street

A Construction Industry Council (CIC) Independent Appeals Tribunal was held on 7 July 2016 to hear an appeal by Chartered Member, Mr Steven Carmody,  Membership No 51892187, of Wakefield, against the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

The Tribunal upheld Mr Steven Carmody’s appeal and found that the ICE should quash the decision and withdraw the sanction originally made on 28 July 2015 to Severely Reprimand the Member.

The Independent Appeals Tribunal decided that the ICE Disciplinary Board had incorrectly interpreted its rules when it found that  Mr Carmody had breached By-law 35 and Rule 1 of the ICE Rules of Professional Conduct; imposed an inequitable sanction on Mr Carmody, and; that the decision of the Institution was therefore not in accordance with natural justice.

The ICE has consequently withdrawn the Severe Reprimand against Mr Steven Carmody and this notice will be posted in the Institution and published.
