ICE South's Prestige Award

ICE News

UK CONSULTANT Gifford and contractor Dean & Dyball have scooped ICE South's Prestige Award for the ú1M Basingstoke footbridge.

Judges said that the bridge, which links bus and railway stations in the Hampshire town, is the 'jewel in the crown' of the newly developed town centre.

'Basingstoke and Deane borough councils are to be congratulated for having the courage to commission such a startling but aesthetically pleasing design, ' said ICE South chairman Andy Baldwin.

The Environmental Award went to contractor Mowlem for the $4.8M River Lavant flood alleviation scheme near Chichester, East Sussex.

Designed by consultant Black & Veatch for the Environment Agency, the project involved channel widening and building a new tidal outfall in Pagham Harbour nature reserve.
