The Institution of Structural Engineers is to host a seminar in memory of Professor Michael Horne. Horne was considered to have one of the most original engineering minds of his generation. He had a major impact on the theory of design and the formulation of codes of practice. Present day leading exponents will cover the role of academics, research, design and the profession. The seminar will take place on 25 January and is free to all.

RedR holds its AGM this Friday at the ICE. The formal AGM will be preceded by two forum sessions where RedR's training and recent evaluation will be discussed. The AGM will begin at 6:30pm with guest of honour Dr Mukesh Kapila of the conflict and humanitarian aid department of the Department for International Development.

It is followed by a social event.
