The Singapore ministry of environment has completed what could be the world's first smell-free sewage works, according to the latest issue (vol. 154 no. 3) of the ICE/IAHR Water & Maritime Engineering journal. All tanks and channels at the Kranji sewage treatment works are completely covered to prevent odours escaping, with foul air conveyed to a 99% efficient odour treatment plant.
