WINNER WHITBY: Civil engineer Lawrie Quinn MP has helped Yorkshire Water celebrate winning the ICE Yorkshire Merit Award 2002 by unveiling a commemorative plaque on the site of its £32M Whitby Waste Water Treatment Scheme. The prestigious award, announced at the association annual dinner in February, was officially celebrated last month to coincide with Yorkshire Water's Alternative Whitby Regatta - an annual fun day for the company's contractors and consultants.

The plaque is displayed on the wall of Endeavour Wharf pumping station in the heart of the seaside town.
