Birmingham University civil engineering graduate Alastair McConville has won the British section of the International Association for Hydraulic Engineering and Research annual student paper competition for his paper An Assessment of the Hydraulic Efficiency of an Oar Blade in Rowing. McConville was presented with a £500 cheque from competition sponsor, consultant MWH, last week. He is now studying for a PhD at Birmingham University.
