ICE NEWS IN BRIEF

ICE NEWS

The breathtaking £200M, 2.5km Millau viaduct will be topic of a talk by leading French bridge engineer and president of the International Prestressing Federation Michel Virlogeux at the National Liberal Club in London this Wednesday.

The contract for the viaduct, with its eight cable stayed spans on 250m high columns, is now signed and construction is ready to begin, pending approval from the French government. The meeting, organised by the British Section of the French National Council of Engineers and Scientists, is free and open to all. Contact Allyson Lewis 0207 665 2006.

The ICE benevolent fund is seeking new trustees. As members of the committee of management, trustees play a vital role in deciding where benevolent funds are spent and in increasing awareness of the fund's aims. Trustees meet four times a year in London. If you would like to serve on this worthwhile committee, please submit your nomination to the Honorary Secretary, One Great George Street, London by 31 December. The election will take place in May.
