ICE London welcomes the President home

Five hundred of London’s leading civil engineers, built environment professionals and guests from government attended the ICE London & National Dinner on Thursday 2 April, in honour of ICE President Jean Venables.

The dinner was a highlight of her Presidential visit to the London region, and the theme for the evening was Sustaining London’s Infrastructure.

Steve Norris, a former Transport Minister and Companion of the ICE spoke first, at the welcome reception in the impressive Thames Room of the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel.

Moving into the Ballroom for the main part of the evening, guests enjoyed speeches from John Armitt, chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority and Gyles Brandreth, broadcaster, author, actor and former MP.
