ICE London poll result next week

ICE LONDON'S email poll of members based in the capital on London's bid to host the 2012 Olympics is scheduled to go ahead this week.

An email will be sent to the 4,000 of the capital's 6,000 ICE members who have registered their electronic address with the ICE, with the poll result expected early next week.

Three questions will be asked:

1. Do you support the London Olympic bid for 2012?

2. Should ICE London Region support the London Olympic bid?

3. Does the Olympic legacy of the remediated industrial land in east London justify the cost and disruption to the public?

CE London's committee met last Wednesday to agree the questions. A vote at the meeting revealed that the committee itself was split 50:50 over whether to support the bid.

'We want to get a result in time to make a public statement before the IOC visits London on 16 February 2005, ' said past chairman and ICE Council member Angus McAvoy.

. NCE is working with the 2012 bid team to produce a special issue to highlight to IOC judges the commitment of civil engineering to the bid. Send your support to nce2012@construct.

emap. com or write to us at NCE and we will pass it to the IOC.
