ICE library awarded designated status

The Museums Library and Archives Council (MLA) has awarded designated status to the ICE’s library and archive.

The MLA’s designation scheme identifies the pre-eminent collections of national and international importance held in England’s non-national museums, libraries and archives, based on their quality and
significance.

Practical benefits of designated status include enhanced ability to raise funds via grants and raised profile through MLA’s promotional materials and press coverage.

ICE head of knowledge transfer Mike Chrimes said: “Gaining designated status is a real achievement and demonstrates the quality and international importance of the material held in the library.”
