ICE in action

ICE in action is intended to inform members what the Institution is doing on their behalf.

ICE President Sir Alan Cockshaw hosted a meeting last week with Lord Dearing to discuss principles of higher education. Guests included presidents of other engineering institutions.

Two new briefing papers have been published by the AME. They are: Managing health and safety in waste service contracts; Decriminalisation of parking enforcement. For copies send an A4 SAE to the AME office at Great George Street.

The second bi-monthly briefing for MPs who are engineers was held at Great George Street last week. Among MPs attending were David Chidgey and Lawrie Quinn.

AME is organising a series of roadshows on highways liability claims. The first will be held at the ICE on 2 March, followed by meetings in Durham and Manchester. Other venues will be added. Information from Ruth Birse, tel: (0171) 665 2213.
