ICE in action

ICE President Roger Sainsbury recently headed a joint ICE and CIWEM delegation to Environment Minister Michael Meacher to discuss long term security of water supply.

Paddy Ashdown launched the Liberal Democrats' manifesto for the European elections at the ICE on 17 May.

Channel 4 newsreader Jon Snow launched Adult Learners' Week at the ICE on 18 May.

Quentin Peel of the Financial Times delivered ICE's annual European Lecture on 18 May. Copies of the lecture, 'Living Outside the Euro: Sterling Stand or Fundamental Folly?', are available by sending an A4 sae to Diana Maxwell, European Affairs Manager, at ICE.

ICE hosted a meeting for MPs with an engineering background on 20 May. Five MPs listened to briefings on topics including the need for a safety authority to oversee road safety. Barry Sheerman, MP for Huddersfield, gave a presentation on the new Associate Parliamentary Group for Design and Innovation.

Construction Minister Nick Raynsford launched the Construction Industry Board's Model Project Pact, aimed at integrating clients with their supply chains, at the ICE on 25 May.

ICE is organising a survey with the Urban Design Alliance on how highways should be designed to meet integrated transport needs.
