THE ICE has released a new contract to cut time wasting and avoid disputes on simple subcontracts.
This is the first time that a standard contract form has been produced for projects requiring little management input, such as bulk earthworks for example.
Contracting parties have until now produced their own subcontracts by modifying the Engineering & Construction Short Contract in accordance with guidance notes.
The new Engineering & Construction Short Subcontract agreement is intended to save time and eliminate the potential for errors leading to disputes.
'This is a simple subcontract form using simple English and it complements the NEC family of contracts, ' explained ICE technical advisor Drick Vernon. 'It has been produced in direct response to industry demand and may well be used in preference to the Engineering & Construction Subcontract'.
