  • Comment on: Johnson: Canning Crossrail would be ‘barmy’

    Iain Frew's comment 22 October, 2009 12:29 pm

Crossrail will provide an important link east-west across London and passengers arriving at Paddington a trouble-free way of getting to The City. This is a long overdue improvement to transport across central London. The equivalent link has long been available in cities such as Paris, Brussels, Madrid,Berlin, Sydney, Melbourne, and Beijing. If we do not want London to become a second class city we must build Crossrail and Thameslink as quickly as we can.

  • Comment on: Green light Nottingham tram extension - with workplace parking levy to make it pay

    Iain Frew's comment 31 July, 2009 3:42 pm

At last common sense has allowed this major improvement in transport around Nottingham to go ahead. The Workplace Parking Levy will encourage employers to re-think their policies regarding the use of cars by their workforce. Perhaps they can give staff reduced rate or free season tickets on the trams instead.

Large businesses are sure to benefit once Crossrail is open so it is only fair that they pay something towards construction costs.
