Graduate profile: Paula Farshim
Paula Farshim graduated from the University of Surrey with an MEng in civil engineering, and joined Hyder in 2004 as a civil / geotechnical engineer in the company’s Environmental Solutions team in Guildford.

"I was sponsored by Hyder at university," explained Paula. "After graduation, I joined the Geotechnics division of the Environmental Solutions Group. Within a year I was given the opportunity to work on a prestigious scheme in Dubai: the Light Rail Transit. I have also worked with our contaminated land and highways teams to gain some multidisciplinary experience. One of the main highlights of my career to date has been receiving Hyder’s UK Graduate of the Year’ Award."

Paula has taken full advantage of exciting overseas work opportunities. "The chance to travel and build your career at the same time is too good an opportunity to miss. So far, I have been seconded to our Hong Kong and Sydney offices. Both of these experiences were incredible. Working abroad did more than just provide me with a greater comprehension of the company’s international business reach.
