Hyder acquisition boosts Middle East presence

Middle-East consultant Holford Associates has been purchased by Hyder Consulting for £9.2M.

Holford Associates are well positioned in the Middle Eastern construction market, and saw pre-tax profits of £2.5M for the year to 30 September 2007.

This latest Hyder acquisition further cements their presence in the region with roughly 1,500 staff employed between their offices in Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE.

Hyder's chief executive, Tim Wade, commented: "I'm delighted to announce the acquisition of Holfords, with whom we have worked closely for many years. The calibre of our people within our two organisations will ensure a great cultural fit and market differentiation."

David Tripney, Saeed Al Jabri and Colin Wood, three of the five partners at Holford Associates plan to remain with Hyder, whilst Ed Bain and Robert Fernandes will retire.

Hyder and Holford Associates have collaborated on a number of projects in the past, including the famous Ski Dubai.
