HOT HACKS

HOT HACKS: Five NCE journalists were successful in the annual International Building Press Journalism Awards. Deputy editor Antony Oliver (third from left) was named Civil Engineering Journalist of the Year for articles including an analysis of the signalling problems on the Jubilee Line Extension. Technical editor Dave Parker (far left) took third place in the same category, while northern editor David Hayward (not pictured) was highly commended. Chief reporter Matthew Jones (second from left) won News Reporter of the Year. His winning entry included reports on the Injaka bridge collapse in South Africa and the Eschede high-speed train crash in Germany. Reporter Andrew Mylius (far right) took second place in the Young Journalist category.
