Highways Agency issues contract notice for Area 3 roads maintenance

The Highways Agency last week issued a contract notice for its Asset Support Contract (ASC) for Area 3 covering Berkshire, Dorset, East Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire estimated to be worth between £100M and £140M a year.

The works involve integrated network management, maintenance, improvement activities, incident management, event management and contingency planning as well as the design and construction of works up to a value of £4M with the possibility of this being increased to a maximum of £8M.

The schedule of the ASCs has been running with delays and this contract notice was due to be published in February. The contract period is set to start on 1 September 2013 and run until 31 August 2018.
