High-Point Rendel

High-Point Rendel is to bid for design work to widen the ill-fated Songsu Bridge in Seoul in conjunction with Hyundai. In 1994, 32 people were killed when one span of the bridge collapsed, and it only recently re-opened after reconstruction carried out by Hyundai under the supervision of High- Point Rendel. Widening the structure from dual two to dual three and four lanes is expected to cost at least £90M and take three to four years.
