Hewlett Civil Engineering

Excavations for the basement of a multi-level car park for Sheffield's new City Hall are being supported by hydraulic struts from Mechplant.

Hewlett Civil Engineering is working with main contractor Taylor Woodrow Construction and consultant Mott MacDonald for Phase 1a of Sheffield's 'Heart of the City'project.

Shoring has to cope with very high loading caused by nearby buildings and roads.

Seven 125t load capacity MP125 hydraulically operated modular struts rake from the excavation's capping beam on the contiguous concrete piles to concrete thrust blocks at formation level.
