Haunted by Telford

I like Brian Greene’s letter and agree with him on his two points.

The new format deserves congratulations all round; and two, it is read in countries other than England.

With that in mind, I think Brian would agree with me that Mark Hansford’s note about the Rugby World Cup is not entirely accurate or acceptable to we of the fringe minorities.

England’s game against Tonga might easily be England’s last as world champions, as Mark says, but that is just England’s problem.

The use of the all inclusive “ours” might have me reaching for my claymore and Brian for his shileaghlie!

He has a much more pressing engagement with France, as we do with the All Blacks, though at least we always have a possible way back in against Italy next week! Now if we loose both of these, that would really be tragic!

NCE should be very careful about its apparent disparaging treatment of the Celts lest the ghost of Thomas Telford strikes back and turns you all into architects or quantity surveyors!
