Haskoning to build Nigeria's EKO Atlantic

A vast land reclamation programme will enable a significant expansion of Nigeria’s largest city, Lagos.

Royal Haskoning plans to build EKO Atlantic City, planned to be Nigeria’s answer to Manhatten.

The mega land reclamation will make the expansion of Lagos City possible. Work will focus on land reclamation and recovery of the seriously eroded coastline.

800 ha will be reclaimed to build housing for 400.000 residents and 200.000 working staff. Haskoning will manage the urban master plan and design for the expansion of the city in addition to project management of the maritime and urban planning, a major part of the infrastructure of the new city and the environmental impact assessment.

The project is a private sector initiative supported by the Lagos State Government.

While land reclamation has started, construction is planned for mid 2009.
