Bentley Systems' forthcoming takeover of Research Engineers will see the integration of the two companies' software products.

Bentley's agreement to buy Research Engineers International and its STAAD structural analysis and design software products was announced in August. The sale is expected to be finalised before the end of the year.

'A great number of Bentley's existing users are also STAAD users, and we believe this union will lead to an unprecedented integration of solutions for structural analysis, design and documentation, ' said Bentley senior vice president Buddy Cleveland at the time of the announcement.

Bentley's agship product is its design, construction and operation software, MicroStation, while Research Engineers' range includes the STAAD family of analysis software.
