Half baked hot potato

LETTERS

I look forward to July's inauguration of the PlaceCheck scheme (NCE 14 June), which will encourage engineers to improve their local street environment. My own neighbourhood in Cambridgeshire suffers from half baked and intermittent cycleways which are an insult to cyclists - complete with sudden 90 obends - and with cars regularly parked over them.

Until this initiative hits my own town, however, may I suggest an improvement to the street on your magazine cover?

I think the keep left bollard in the picture is likely to encourage some interesting vehicle manoevres, possibly into the rear of the parked lorry.
