Halcrow to track buses in Swindon

Halcrow is to lead a new partnering project with Swindon Borough Council to deliver real-time travel information to bus users in Swindon.
The scheme will use satellite tracking technology to provide information on the arrival of buses at key bus stops and on a web-site, and is expected to reassure passengers on the time of their bus and help them to make decisions on travel plansIt will also provide bus priority at major traffic signal junctions in Swindon and will help the bus operator to track their buses, manage the fleets better and so provide a more reliable service. The project is being funded by Swindon Borough Council and, when launched at the end of 2007, will be managed by Swindon's main bus operator Thamesdown Transport.Related links:Today's top stories
