Halcrow is fine

Letters

The headline 'Halcrow needs more cash to avoid takeover' (NCE, 29 March) paints an extremely unfortunate picture of the business. It is one at odds with the general tone of the article and suggests Halcrow is facing a takeover.

Let me make it clear: Halcrow is financially sound, is not facing a takeover and has no intention of trading its highly valued independence.

We are extremely proud of this status, as are our employees, a rapidly growing number of whom are buying shares in the business and benefiting from its financial strength.

Halcrow is making a significant success of itself both here in the UK and elsewhere in the world. These are the plain facts of the matter, as indeed the article itself suggests.
