Groundforce acquires Mechplant

SHORING SUPPLIER Groundforce has acquired Mechplant, the shoring division of the Shepherd Building group.

The move gives Groundforce a wider UK coverage, with use of three of Mechplant's key depots at Basildon, Northampton and Darlington. This increases the number of Groundforce depots to nine.

Mechplant's hydraulic brace systems and the trench box equipment are compatible with Groundforce systems, which will allow quick integration into Groundforce's product groups.

The knowledge and specialist brace experience of Mechplant will extend and complement the Groundforce technical support department. It is not thought that any Groundforce or Mechplant products will be phased out.

'We strongly believe that the combination of the skills and experience, together with the best products, will establish Groundforce Mechplant as the clear market leader.

'From this platform and with further investment planned, we are also confident that the business will go from strength to strength, ' said Groundforce director Steve Turner.
