Ground investigation awarded for Pulpit Rock upgrade

Transport Scotland has announced that it has awarded the contract for the upgrade of the A82 at Pulpit Rock to Structural Soils.

Work on the investigation for the upgrade between Crianlarich and Tarbet will be carried out during four overnight closures of the road starting on 30 July. Transport Scotland said that the work had been planned to take place between 10pm and 6am with access only for local traffic in order to allow the investigation to be safely carried out.

The investigation will provide vital information for the design of a new 400m section of single two-lane carriageway, which will include a viaduct structure, and online widening of existing carriageway to the north. Completion of the scheme will enable traffic light traffic control to be removed from the road for the first time in 30 years, allowing traffic to flow freely.
