Green lies

I must take issue with Colin Sherwood (Letters last week) who says: 'The scientic community is fully agreed that global warming is happening and that mankind is inuencing this change.' This is nonsense - there is no scientic consensus whatsoever. What we do have is a situation where a small, but vocal politically motivated minority howls down any dissent and will not permit any other view to be heard.

Sherwood also makes reference to Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. In response I would urge everyone to read the series of articles published by Christopher Monckton, which not only demolish the arguments in favour of global warming causation, but expose the lies told in furtherance of the argument.

Furthermore, it is unsatisfactory to imply that vested interests are at work denying global warming. There are far larger vested interests on the other side, in the government, in the Green lobby and in the UN.

I am firmly of the view that the overwhelming likelihood of any change in the climate will be from natural causes as has always happened - and will always happen.
