Construction has started on the 'the most environmentally friendly factory in the UK'. The Gateway Development, at Baglan Energy Park in Port Talbot, South Wales, has been designed to achieve an 'excellent rating' under the BRE's Environmental Assessment Method. The factory was wind tunnel tested at the University of Cardiff to study the effects of natural ventilation and is sited to maximise use of natural light. Overall the factory is expected to consume 30% less energy than conventional buildings.
