Government backs KPIs

GOVERNMENT FUNDING has been secured to finally allowthe development of key performance indicators to help design consultants measure the efficiency of their work.

The new KPIs will be prepared by a Construction Industry Council-backed group, led by Buro Happold chairman Michael Dickson and will look at the impact of design quality on performance and value offinished construction projects.

Details will be publishedand discussed at an NCE/Construction Industry Council-backed conference next month. Delegates will be encouraged to contribute ideas and feedback to help the steering group develop the KPIs.

'We will be looking for ways to measure the effectof design on the satisfaction gained by building development,' said Dickson. 'The conference will provide us with a valuable starting point for debating our ideas.'
