Golder Associates acquire GCG (Asia)

Hong Kong-based GCG (Asia) has announced that it has been acquired by Golder Associates and will now trade under the name Golder Associates (Hong Kong).

Despite the name, GCG (Asia) was a separate entity to the UK-based GCG operation but the two companies previously worked in cooperation with Tom Henderson and Andy Pickles as directors and owners of GCG (Asia).

Henderson and Pickle have now become directors of Golder Associates (Hong Kong) and the company’s 14 staff have also transferred to the new company.

“Golder has a strong presence in the Asian market but is mostly focused on the minerals and mining business, so our geotechnical operation is a good fit,” said Henderson. “Having the backing of a larger parent company will help us to grow the business to meet the growing demand for specialist geotechnical consultancy skills in this region.”

GCG’s UK operation has said that it has not ruled out establishing a new business in the region in the future.
