Michael Brown (3rd left) of Sheffield University has scooped first prize in the Yorkshire Association geotechnical group's Young Geotechnical Engineers' Papers Competition.

Brown's paper on statnamic pile testing beat off competition from Andrew Shepherd (left) of AIG Consultants and Sarah Munks (right) of Arup. Brown wins an expenses paid trip to the Young Geotechnical Engineers symposium in Dundee.
