German/Dutch freight line starts

DREDGING INTERNATIONAL has begun ground work on the first section of the new Betwerute, a double track freight line between Rotterdam and Germany.

The 160km line will be built in two phases, the 48km Rotterdam Port Railway and the 112km Kijfhoek-Zevenaar link alongside the A15 motorway to the border.

The contractor is part of the seven strong Beturo joint venture which is constructing the first 13km eastern section of the port link. This connects marshalling yards at Kijfhoek to Europort.
