Geosynthetics experts put knowledge online

AN ONLINE geosynthetics information service for designers, engineers and contractors has been launched.

Vinci-quality. com is a non-profit making initiative by geosynthetic supplier Polyfelt Group. It provides updated information on the international standardisation of geosynthetics.

The website uses the expertise of30 independent specialists worldwide, drawn from research institutes, certification bodies and public authorities. The experts respond to online questions with non-commercial, impartial answers on a range of technical subjects.

They are chosen on their experience in the field of quality and standardisation at an international level (CEN or ISO) and must be nominated by at least three experts. To maintain impartiality, the service is monitored by an independent group responsible for ensuring that commercial interests are not pursued.

'Vinci-Quality is a central point for information that facilitates design and communication, ' said UK independent specialist on the panel, Guy Watts.

The site also comments on different national, European and international certification bodies. Labels and certification required for geosynthetic products from design to installation are described and explained.
