Geosynthetic Contracts

Geosynthetics firm Colbond has supplied geosynthetics for the capping system of the Oldenburg-Osternburg landfill site in Germany.

About 190,000m 2 of geosynthetics were used to cover the landfill site, which contains 2. 8M. m 3of waste.

Contractors ARGE Matthai, Wittfeld and Bohlen & Doyen carried out the work for client AWB Oldenburg.

A 2. 5mm geomembrane liner, approved by the German Federal Institute for Material Research and Testing, sealed the top of the landfill, which has a gradient of between 1:15 and 1:4. The liner sits on a 0. 3m thick supporting and levelling layer of vitreous sand.

Colbond's Enkadrain T200P was installed as a drainage and protective layer on top of the geomembrane, which together with the topsoil forms a 1m thick cultivation layer.
