Gee, Tony - you're a lost cause

Tony Gee's letter last week encapsulates neatly where the problem lies on convincing people, particularly those in the US, of the urgency of addressing climate change.

The article he refers to appears to be little more than a biased and selective interpretation of other research and may as well have been published by my local free paper for all the credibility it possesses.

The idea that climate change is driven only by solar activity has been soundly debunked. If it's shreds of scientific evidence he's after, Mr Gee may like to consider the rather more authoritative work of the Hadley Centre, the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and others before he gets too complacent and believes the nonsense spouted by those who don't want to accept what most scientists now do.

Unless we all put some effort into carbon reduction, we're all going to feel the effects somehow, and it's not going to be pleasant.

Maybe when Florida is half under water Mr Gee will change his mind, until then maybe he's a lost cause.
