Gateway to victory

A photograph of the giant dockside cranes at the new London Gateway port has won the annual ICE East of England ‘This is Civil Engineering’ competition for images that illustrate civil engineering and its importance to society.

The photograph, London Gateway by Night, was taken by DP World London Gateway engineering director Andrew Bowen.

London Gateway is a newly built, state-of-the-art, highly automated deep sea container port to the east of London, and is combined with Europe’s largest logistics park, which aims to provide the most efficient link between deep sea shipping and the UK’s consumer markets.
