Galliford Try JV appoints HS2 bid leader

High Speed 2, HS2

Momentum Infrastructure, the High Speed 2 bid joint venture of Dragados, Galliford Try and Hochtief, has appointed ex-Skanska boss David Blackburn as managing director.

Blackburn comes from within Galliford Try, formerly heading up its major projects division. He joined the firm from Leighton Contractors in Australia, where he was project director on a £1.7bn Sydney Metro scheme. However the bulk of his career has been the 30 years spent with Skanska, where he led a number of contracts on HS1 as well as the £1bn M25 widening works.

Momentum Infrastructure main board director Sally Cox said: “David comes with a great pedigree and he will be an excellent addition to an already strong team. He is highly respected within the professional community and brings great knowledge and experience of our industry, the needs of our clients and in the delivery of strong results.”
