Fury across the Mersey

With regard to your story headlined 'Local authorities sideline stricken Railtrack' (NCE 15 November) perhaps you would allow me to correct inaccuracies so far as the two organisations in my area are concerned.

We are still working both with and for Merseytravel on the Allerton interchange scheme.

As to the comments by Keith Howcroft at Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (PTE) in respect of Horwich Parkway station, they are simply untrue.

Railtrack North West project managed the station, delivered it on time and to budget, and even assisted the PTE when it got into difficulty over provision of the station car park.
