Further work needed at A72 landslide site

Scottish Borders Council has said that further work is needed to prevent further landslides on an embankment on the A72 at Dirtpot Corner, between Peebles and Innerleithen.

The road was initially closed to all traffic following the landslide on Friday but was later reopened under traffic control.

“The landslip happened on a section of banking at Dirtpot corner that has not been affected by landslips in the past,” said SBC director of environment and infrastructure Rob Dickson.

Dickson added that while the initial works have checked for loose material on the slope, more detailed inspections will be carried out today and further work is likely to be carried out.
