Funding awarded to ASUC for new underpinning and mini piling guidelines

The Association of Specialist Underpinning Contractors (ASUC) has been awarded funding to update guidelines for underpinning and minipiling work.

The £8,300 CITB grant for Guidelines on Safe and Efficient Underpinning and mini piling operations was awarded to ASUC last week.

The aim of the project is to revise and relaunch guidelines that cover the complete process for underpinning works and the responsibilities of those involved.

ASUC spokesman Rob Withers said: “The old guidelines are now 10 years old and look tired now with no diagrams and legislation has also changed over the last decade so hence the need for the update. We want them to have the same look and feel as the basement guidelines we did last year.”

The agreed programme between ASUC and the CITB is to launch the new document in December, which will be available as a free download from the ASUC website.
