Fugro has acquired two more 20t CPT trucks in the UK. One, a new model, has a semi-automatic rod handling custom-built by AP van den Berg in Northern Holland. This would allow it to be used by a single operator, but for health and safety reasons Fugro will continue to operate a twoman crew in the UK - the main benefit ofthe semi-automatic system will be the reduction in wear and tear. The van den Berg truck is also the first CPT unit to be built around the latest Mercedes Actros chassis and power unit.

The second addition to the UK fleet is the permanent transfer ofa tried and tested 20t Fugro truck from Holland. All Fugro's UK trucks are now fitted with Omnistar GPS receivers that provide test location positions to within 2m horizontally and 5m vertically - or to within a few centimetres when used with a second base station unit.
