Fuel delivery

Groundforce trench support equipment has helped the BAA/Amec Pavement Team complete construction of a 508mm fuel main at Stansted Airport's Fedex project.

The Fedex scheme is a major enlargement of the cargo facilities at the airport, with new cargo stands for Boeing 747s being constructed.

The Pavement Team's work includes extension of the existing steel pipe by 300m, completing a ring main to the cargo area and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of fuel when any future modifications are required. Trenches vary from 2m to 4m deep and all are 1.9m wide for flexibility and speed of construction.

Groundforce supplied heavy duty and standard duty walers, acting with trench sheets, and supported the Pavement Team with its specialised excavation support, design software and drawing package.
