Free subs right extended

ICE MEMBERS of any class will now qualify for free membership after 50 years.

Council's decision to extend the free membership rule - which currently applies to corporate members only - to all members, is a triumph for John Evans who has been campaigning vociferously on this

issue for two and half years.

He said: 'The regulations formerly required 50 years as a corporate member, thereby requiring those who qualified to reach the age of 75. This requirement conflicted with that in

the IMechE/IEE. I am absolutely delighted that something has now been done.'
