Four fight for £30M Crossrail contract

Four firms have been shortlisted for a Crossrail construction deal worth up to £30M.

Vinci made the cut for the Plumstead maintenance facility contract, as did Balfour Beatty.

Alstom and VolkerFitzpatrick complete the line-up for the structure, which will provide facilities for dedicated infrastructure maintenance rail vehicles.

The contract is expected to be awarded next June. It will include developing Stage E designs and delivering site works.

The facility includes three non-electrified sidings; refuelling facilities; a maintenance building; lay down space; manual jet washing areas; storage space; and more.

It is due to be fully operational in August 2018.
