Foundation construction underway on German wind farm

Construction of the Bard Offshore 1 wind farm in the North Sea has reached a new milestone with delivery of the materials for the foundations for the 400MW development now underway.

Belgium-based crane provider Sarens is working at Rostock Port using a Terex CC 9800 crawler crane to load the up to 70m long steel pile sections onto ships to transport them to the construction site.

The pile sections – which weigh up to 750t - are being transported to the construction site 100km north west of the German island of Borkum where the 80 turbine wind farm is being built for Enovos. Work on the wind farm is expected to be completed next year.
