Foundation and Exploration Services

Site investigation contractor Foundation and Exploration Services has finished detailed logging of the London Clay, Lambeth Group and Chalk beneath Wembley Stadium in London. The firm was working for developer Wembley National Stadium, through its consultant Mott MacDonald.

Investigations for the new Wembley football stadium involved thin-wall sampling and insitu testing using self-boring pressuremeter, static cone penetrometer and seismic cone. FES used three cable percussion boring rigs and one rotary rig using Geobore S wireline coring equipment to drill seven boreholes to depths between 8m and 55m.
