Forth Replacement site investigation underway

The Forth Replacement Crossing ground investigation is now in its eighth week of a twelve week programme. The £800,000 ground investigation is being carried out by Ritchies for Transport Scotland, is well under way.

Four cable percussive rigs and five rotary rigs are currently employed on site

The findings of the investigation will supplement existing data and provide essential information on the ground conditions in the area.

Boreholes are being drilled to a maximum depth of 80 metres using a combination of cable percussion boring followed by rotary drilling with extensive use of rotary wireline drilling in HQ size.
