THE FORTH Road Bridge hanger replacement project was named as winner of the 20th Saltire Award for Scottish civil engineering excellence last week.
BBC Scotland's environment correspondent Louise Batchelor presented the award and praised those involved for 'demonstrating bold innovation and outstanding technical capability'.
The Saltire Society, formed in 1936, seeks to foster and enrich the cultural heritage of Scotland in all its aspects.
It presents annual awards for civil engineering, planning, literature, housing design and science.
Nine other projects in five categories received commendations, reflecting the diversity of the awards.
